Ame no Tawaraya — Main Shop (あめの俵屋 本店)

Kanazawa / KobashimachiJapanese sweets

History

Founded in 1830 as a candy specialist. It makes jiro-ame using sweetness derived from grains rather than sugar. Its main building is also listed among Kanazawa's preserved buildings.

Jiro-ame (じろあめ) is a soft syrup-like sweet made from rice and barley. Buy candy to take away, or book separately for a candy-packing experience.
