Demachi Futaba (出町ふたば)

Kyoto / DemachiJapanese sweets

History

The founder moved from Komatsu in Ishikawa Prefecture to Kyoto and opened a rice-cake shop in 1899. The shop adapted bean-studded mochi into Kyoto mamemochi filled with smooth bean paste.

Mame-mochi (名代豆餅) wraps smooth sweet bean paste in a soft rice cake studded with red peas. It is sold to take away, alongside seasonal rice-cake sweets.
