Sasaya Iori — Main Shop (笹屋伊織 本店)

Kyoto / Shichijo / OmiyaJapanese sweets

History

Founded in 1716, it has made sweets for the imperial palace, temples, shrines and tea gatherings. Its signature dorayaki is sold on just 3 days each month. The confectionery business's founding and the present café's opening are separate.

This shop's dorayaki (どら焼) is a rolled, tube-shaped sweet, sold only on the 20th–22nd of each month. It differs from the familiar pancake-sandwich type. The attached Iori Café (イオリカフェ) offers a separate eat-in option.
