Ganso Shachi Monaka Honten (元祖鯱もなか本店)

Nagoya / Matsubara / OsuJapanese sweets

History

The shop was founded in 1907. It began making Shachi Monaka in 1921, and these sweets modeled on Nagoya Castle's golden shachi became its signature product.

Ganso Shachi Monaka (元祖鯱もなか) is a wafer sweet shaped like the golden shachi figures on Nagoya Castle. The assemble-your-own version (手作り鯱もなか) lets you put the filling and wafer together before eating.
